Hello, and welcome to Buddhist-Arts.com. My name is Cheryl Marland and I have write all of the articles on this blog. This blog started as a way to better understand the photos I was taking in these places. All the the photographs are also my own.
I’ve built a pretty nice library to further my understanding and appreciation of Buddhist art. Many of the books were purchases in the places I was visiting and photographing.
In 2008 I began this blog by writing about the temples in Luang Prabang, Laos. Over the years, while I was still working, I had a little time to devote to this, but really slacked off when things got too busy. Happily retired now, I am writing again. I chose to begin with Myanmar (Burma) because my partner and I have visited 3 times, first in 2009, then 2011 and finally 2015.
There is much to write about. And now as a lay Buddhist practitioner, I hope to add even more, including my artwork and poetry. Thank you so very much for visiting!
